KIRO 7 Eyewitness News (Seattle, Tacoma, Everett), Nov. 2, 2007
There is a government warning out for a popular kind of dog treat.
They’re chicken jerky products, variously described as chicken tenders, strips, or just plain treats.
They're available everywhere and dogs really love them. But they can also make them very sick.
Bella, a 10-month-old puppy, doesn't seem to care for her new treats nearly as much as the dried chicken jerky she used to get that very nearly killed her.

Sheba, a soft-coated wheaten terrier, began acting oddly shortly after a veterinary visit in early July. Shelton said that although the visit went well, several days later Sheba became violently ill. She said she twice found the dog lying in its own urine.

When Kate Collins took her Chihuahua, Bella, with her on vacation, she thought she was saving her youngest dog from the experience of boarding.
Two-year-old Bella was dead one week later.
"I figured it was a little stomach thing,” Collins of Aston said. “I mean, she had just taken a seven-hour drive. But she just got worse and worse."
Instead, both Collins and Bella’s veterinarian think the culprit in her death was a particular brand of doggie treats: Bestro Chicken Jerky Strips, which she purchased from the Wal-Mart in Boothwyn.
